Returning – a Retreat by hn. lyonga & Safiya Yon and Open Studios at E-WERK Luckenwalde

On the 3rd and 4th May, E-WERK Luckenwalde will host a retreat in collaboration with 2025 fellows, hn. lyonga and Safiya Yon. The retreat will be open to current and previous Mensch Maschine fellows, in addition to jury members, and participants are invited to stay overnight in Luckenwalde (limited space available - first come first serve).

Curated by Safiya and Lyonga, the retreat will take place alongside the open studio weekend at E-WERK, where current Mensch Maschine residents and other residents of E-WERK will open their doors to the public.

–Returning is a collective care intervention, a dinner ritual, and a bonfire reading.

​​This intervention invites the stirring of memories—what we carry in our chests, and where we choose to lay it down. It traces, explores, and reflects on the profound and complex connections that exist within communities that make time to gather, share, neighbour and rest. Gathering is proposed here not only as a social ritual, but as a radical act of care. 

Here, we return to our natural cycles.
