Elfi Mikesch is one of the first cinematographers in German cinema, and her images strongly influenced the work of directors such as Werner Schroeter, Rosa von Praunheim, Harald Bergmann and Monika Treut. But she is a director in our own right, shooting documentaries and feature films. Karola Gramann, expert for women and film, as well as experimental film, has shadowed Mikesch's work for a long time now. The focus is on aesthetic strategies, feminism, and above all on artistic films that rise above the mainstream.
