Berlin Fellowship 2024 — Film and Media Arts
Vita
As an auteur filmmaker, Lisa Gertsch seeks unconventional and atmospheric ways to deal with social issues. Her work alternates between realism and exaggeration, reality and absurdity. In the process, she deals intensively with the perspective and form of storytelling. Gertsch studied for a Master of Arts in Directing Feature Film at Zurich University of the Arts. Her work has been honoured with the Student Academy Award and the Max Ophüls Preis, among others.
Residency
During my stay in Berlin, I will continue to work on my second feature film. Based on the script I now have in place, I intend to immerse myself in collaborating with my main actors. Together, we will develop the characters and start rehearsals. This process should result in the first film version by the end of my residency. I also plan to use the time on location to conduct castings, cast supporting characters, and thus complete the acting ensemble.
