“A little volcano”: Helene Weigel on her 125th birthday

This year, the great actress Helene Weigel, who founded both the Berliner Ensemble and the Bertolt Brecht Archive, would have been 125 years old. To mark the occasion, the Brecht-Haus (Brecht House) invites you to celebrate: director Maria Wischnewski gives a preview of her new biopic Helene Weigel: So wie es ist, bleibt es nicht, granddaughter Johanna Schall, biographer Sabine Kebir and other contemporary witnesses and experts talk about Weigel's life and art, and letters, songs and famous scenes from her repertoire will be presented on the courtyard stage.

There will be guided tours of Helene Weigel's flat and the Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof (Dorotheenstadt Cemetery), and the Helene Weigel Archive will be presented by its founder, Matthias Braun.

An event organised by the Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus, the Brecht-Weigel Museum and the Bertolt Brecht Archive in cooperation with the Evangelischer Friedhofsverband Berlin Stadtmitte.
