Poetry and Politics.
Heinrich Mann and the Akademie der Künste
Heinrich Mann saw his membership in the poetry section (founded in 1926) of the Prussian Academy of Arts as a duty, intended to influence public life in the Weimar Republic in a democratic manner. The editor of the fourth volume of the critical complete edition of Mann’s essays and journalism, Ariane Martin, the editor of the complete edition, Volker Riedel, and writer Gunnar Decker (winner of the Heinrich Mann Prize in 2016), discuss the impact of Mann’s works, the relationship between mind and action and the texts he wrote between 1926 and 1929.
