The Prince and the Dybbuk
Michał Waszyński was a master of masquerade. His most important film was The Dybbuk, which told of an old Jewish legend in a Polish shtetl. This film is considered to be one of the rare testimonies of Yiddish cinema. Waszyński had a turbulent history: front camera man, producer for major Hollywood productions and prince. In their meticulous research, Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski unearth the trail of this survival artist. The images shimmer and blur, as did Michał Waszyński's life, full of secrets and displacement.
