Memories of Jürgen Gosch Oedipus Variations – adapted from motifs by Sophocles/Hölderlin/Gosch
In 1984, Jürgen Gosch staged Hölderlin's adaptation of Oedipus in Cologne. The legendary production was recorded in full by a single camera. In 2018, Marcel Kohler, using motifs from the Gosch production, the Hölderlin adaptation, and modernist texts, developed a self-contained evening of theatre together with students of the University of Performing Arts Ernst Busch. Ten Oedipus variations were created, becoming highlights that allow for a new focus on characters and other perspectives on the mythical material.
