Eberhard Fechner. Chronicler of Everyday Life
Eberhard Fechner (1926–1992) was a genredefining documentary filmmaker working in West German television, whose films reached an audience of millions. Borrowing from his recently accessible archive at the Akademie der Künste and his films that are available in the Mediathek Fernsehen of the Deutsche Kinemathek, the two institutions have published a new book. To mark its presentation, Fechner’s episode Frankfurter Gold (1971) of the German television crime series Tatort will be shown, followed by a discussion with the author Matthias Dell and the book’s editors.
