all animals am I
Since 2001, the Junge Akademie at the Akademie der Künste Berlin annually awards the Saarland scholarship for graduates of Saarland University of the Arts (HBKsaar). The aim of the Saarland scholarship is to foster artistic exchange between the Saarland and Berlin.
The exhibition “all animals am I” currently showing at the Saarländische Galerie presents work by the Saarland scholarship holders Cornelia Fachinger, Paulette Penje and Martina Wegener. All three artists are engaged in part in cooperative ventures with the Junge Akademie scholarship holders cylixe, Mirkan Deniz, Lynn Takeo Musiol and Niklas Seidl. Also on show is a new edition of an earlier work of art by Arnold Dreyblatt, who from 2001 to 2003, when Guest Professor at the HBKsaar, realised in cooperation with students and staff there an archival project in the Saarland town of Rubenheim.
This is the third exhibition jointly mounted by the HBKsaar, the Junge Akademie and the Saarländische Galerie to attest an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on fusions of the visual arts, the performing arts, and music. Also in evidence is a shift to meanwhile more emphatic positions both on artistic research and performative and processual interactions.
The scholarship programme is funded by the Minister President of Saarland with the support of the authorised representative to the federal government and head of the Saarland State Chancellery, Secretary of State Jürgen Lennartz.
