Not only is Abdulnasser Gharem one of Saudi Arabia’s leading artists, he has also been supporting his younger colleagues for years in forging their own path with contemporary, critical art. In his works – the best known include sculptures, large-format stamp paintings and performances – he touches on the dark, neuralgic aspects of society in an almost monumental way. Gharem talks to Andreas Görgen about himself and his work.
