Following the rotation of the six Academy sections, this year’s Grand Art Prize Berlin will be awarded in the Performing Arts Section to French architect, painter and stage designer Richard Peduzzi.
The other six art prizes will be awarded to Stephanie Gudra (visual arts), atelier le balto (architecture), composer Øyvind Torvund (music), Roman Ehrlich (literature), theatre and film actor Bastian Reiber (performing arts) and director Bettina Blümner (film and media arts).
The Berlin Art Prize was established in 1948 by the city’s magistrate in memory of the bourgeois revolution of 1848. The prizes will be presented by the Mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey, and Academy Vice-President Kathrin Röggla.
In addition, the Will Grohmann Prize 2021 will be presented to the Berlin-based US artist Zoë Claire Miller.
