JUNGE AKADEMIE – Open Studios

The Akademie der Künste’s JUNGE AKADEMIE is opening its studios in the Hansaviertel for Open Studios with presentations by four artists in the fields of visual arts, music and architecture. The two-story studios, designed by architect Werner Düttmann with a view of Tiergarten, will be used by the fellows as an exhibition space to provide insights into the panorama of their ideas and projects.

The works of the visual artist Emma Adler cast a spotlight on the depths of the internet and question the too-obvious certainties about the relationship between reality and representation. Conspiracy stories are the focus of her works. Currently, she is investigating artificial intelligence and propaganda – especially misogyny and racism, and how technologies spread and amplify them. Her research has led her back in time, as far back as the witch hunts.

The architect Covadonga Blasco presents Unsightbare: Sound Thoughts on the Landscape of Klein Glienicke, a conceptual piece that invites audiences to explore landscapes and their historical sites and borders through the sounds of self-made instruments. Cicadas warn of the high summer temperatures through their songs.

In her work AUDITORY POVERTY AND ITS DISCONTENTS, a series of poetry-sound compositions and essays developed for the Open Studios, composer and artist Nina Dragičević turns to audibility as an intersectional class structure with a particular focus on the lack of auditory capital, forming the concept of “auditory poverty”.

Poet, writer, and philosopher Aušra Kaziliūnaitė introduces her poetic photography project Light Leaks. The work is a meditation on light, memory, and time. During the Open Studios, the author performs poetry in Lithuanian. The poet and Serpentara Fellow Anna Hetzer joins her to read the German translations.
