The International Turntable Orchestra
In 2009 the T.I.T.O. festival – with The International Turntable Orchestra – took place at the Akademie der Künste on Hanseatenweg. Fourteen of the most important experimental protagonists in this innovative scene were featured over the course of four days. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of this event, the KONTAKTE festival is organising a “T.I.T.O. Marathon”, held on the same day as the Berlin Marathon. The new programme by international artists – performed solo, in various lineups, and as a whole orchestra – is a renewed assessment of the experimental turntablist scene in 2019. The stylistic range of the invited artists spans from electroacoustic music, noise, ambient, industrial, musique concrete & Fluxus up to and including experimental hip hop.
