Wieland Förster. Diaries 1958 – 1974
Wieland Förster has kept a journal most of his life. In inconspicuous volumes, he recorded his struggle to find his own artistic path, the reoccurring and obsessive memories of the agonising years he was interned in the Soviet special camp in Bautzen and his clashes with the prevailing cultural policy. The excerpts published here for the first time document his journey from master student to member of the Akademie der Künste. Ulrich Matthes reads from these testimonies of self-assertion in difficult times.
