As part of this year's cooperation between the Studio and the JTTP (Jeux de Temps / Time Play) competition of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community, Jules Bastin-Fontaine has been awarded second prize, which comes with a residency scholarship at the Studio for Electroacoustic Music of the Academy of Arts. 

New sounds for Subharchord, Mixtur-Trautonium and Var-Q-Lator. The CD was named release of the month by field notes.

At the beginning of July, Hainbach visited us in the studio and made numerous experiments and recordings with the Subharchord. The result can now be seen on his Youtube channel, one of the biggest channels for electronic music and historical hardware.

Three scholarship holders will present their works, which were created as part of the SEM Residency Programme, at the "sample&hold #1" concert in the studio lobby, Hanseatenweg on 25 May

The Akademie der Künste remembers composer Georg Katzer (1935–2019) with a series of videos released on its YouTube channel. Katzer was one of the pioneers of electroacoustic music in the GDR and founded the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Academy of the Arts in 1980.

The Studio for Electroacoustic Music has resumed its full operation. During the lockdown caused by the corona crisis the Studio worked on a number of audio segments with academy members and recordings of works by Georg Katzer. The concert “EM4 | Berliner Studios: Georg Katzer” has been postponed to the 16th of December 2020.

Due to the acute risk associated with the coronavirus, the Studio for Electroacoustic Music has closed for operation until further notice.

Today’s blog entry shares a brief insight into some of the projects that have taken place at SEM over the past three months, since the beginning of 2017. As it happens, this year SEM’s artist-in-residence program has an eye set firmly on the biennial festival KONTAKTE '17. KONTAKTE will take place on the last days of September thanks to the generous support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and the Goethe-Institut. Great news!
